The Gallera Dimmable Matte Cordless Picture Light is built for exactly that problem: a compact metal fixture with a head that rotates a full 360 degrees, so the beam can be set to rake across a canvas and pull out its texture, or angled wider to cover a group of frames. Once it is set it stays put, and it can be changed whenever the wall does.
It is cordless and rechargeable, which is what makes it usable above a picture rather than only near an existing light point. There is no cable hanging down the wall and nothing to run behind the frame. The light is dimmable across several levels, so it can be turned up to show a piece properly to a room of people or dropped low to leave a soft glow on the wall through an evening.
Four finishes are offered: gold, black, white and rose gold. Gold is the warmer option and sits naturally with gilt frames, warm timber and traditional hanging; black is the most graphic and defined against a pale wall; white recedes almost entirely, which is usually right when the fixture should be invisible and only the lit artwork should show. The Gallera suits gallery walls, hallways, dining rooms and studies.
