The Arachne Mid Century Modular Adjustable Multi-Arm Ceiling Light reaches out in several directions from a single central point. Each arm ends in a shade that can be turned and angled, so one fixture can light a dining table, a corner of the room and a stretch of wall at once. It has the look of a hand-drawn line rather than a manufactured object, which is a large part of the appeal of this shape.
Two sizes are offered. The three-arm version spans 59 inches and suits a dining table, a kitchen island or a medium living room. The six-arm version spans 86.6 inches and works as a room's centrepiece, best kept for a high ceiling and a large open space where it has room to be seen. Both are 19.7 inches deep and take standard E26 bulbs, so the character of the light is set entirely by the bulbs you choose.
Black is the classic finish and gives the graphic, drawn-line effect the design is known for. White is quieter and suits a room where a dark fixture would sit too heavily against a pale ceiling. Each arm is set at installation and can be re-aimed later. Installation is hardwired and, given the span and the weight, should be carried out by a licensed electrician onto a suitable ceiling fixing. For indoor use only.
