The Vitrea Retro Jewel Toned Art Glass Pendant Lamp is built around a molded shade with real translucency, which means it is worth looking at whether or not it is switched on. Unlit, the glass shows deep, saturated tones and reads as a piece of colored sculpture hanging above a table. Lit, the light passes through and the whole color lands in the room, which is a different effect entirely and the reason to choose colored glass over clear.
The silhouette is all flowing curve, rounded rather than geometric, and it is finished with polished chrome hardware that pairs cleanly with every glass option. That combination, warm colored glass against cool bright metal, is what keeps the piece from reading as either purely retro or purely modern.
