Scandinavian design is usually described as restrained, which is often taken to mean colorless. The Saga Minimalist Nordic Sculptural Dome Pendant Light argues otherwise. The form is as plain as it gets, a smooth tapered dome with no ornament and no visible fixings, capped with a turned wood collar where the shade meets the cord, and the color is allowed to carry the whole piece. In a room of white walls and pale timber, one saturated shade above a table is the only decoration that scheme needs.
The dome is deep enough to conceal the bulb from anyone seated below it, so what reaches the table is a warm pool of light rather than glare. Hung singly it centres a round table; hung in a row of two or three it works along a kitchen island. The shade is metal with a wood capped stem, and it takes a standard bulb.
Three colors are offered: green, blue and yellow. Green is the most grounded of the three and sits comfortably with timber and plants. Blue is the coolest and works well against white and gray schemes. Yellow is the warmest and the boldest, and it reads as a deliberate statement above a table.
