The Caldera Sculptural Matte Travertine Pendant Lamp carries a cylindrical shade of genuine stone, veined and porous and entirely unrepeatable, ringed by a walnut wood band that grounds it in warmth. It hangs as an object as much as a light source, the kind of piece a room is designed around rather than added to once everything else is in place.
Lit, travertine does something no glass or acrylic shade can. Light passes through the natural density of the stone and comes out soft, layered and alive, with the veining visible from within rather than only on the surface. Travertine forms over thousands of years under heat and pressure, so the pore pattern and tonal shift of every shade is geological. Each Caldera pendant is, in a literal sense, one of a kind.
It comes as a single pendant or as a linear bar of two, three or four heads on a walnut spine, which is what makes it flexible across very different rooms. One over a bedside or a hallway console; a bar over a dining table, a kitchen island or a stairwell where the drop can be read from two floors. Three combinations are offered: walnut with yellow travertine, walnut with black travertine, or a lighter wood with yellow travertine.
