The Thalia Oversized Warm Linen Shade Drum Floor Lamp is a wide, shallow drum on a beech frame, and its whole purpose is the quality of light it makes. A shade this broad spreads light across a large area instead of dropping it in a tight circle, so a reading corner lit by a Thalia feels lit rather than spotlit. It is a piece of furniture as much as a light source, and it reads that way in a room.
The frame is solid beech, left pale so the grain shows, and it is offered with a white, beige or coffee shade. White is the crispest and brightest. Beige is the warmest and the most forgiving against cream walls and natural textiles. Coffee is the deepest, and it pushes the lamp further towards furniture, which suits a room with darker joinery.
It belongs beside an armchair, at the end of a sofa or in the corner of a bedroom, and it is best used with a warm bulb at moderate output, since the point of a shade this size is diffusion rather than brightness.
