Height is the thing to plan around. At nearly eight feet it needs clearance from branches, gutters, eaves and power lines, and it catches more wind than a low piece. Give it flat ground clear of rocks and sticks, and site it where it reads against sky or a blank wall rather than a busy facade. Setting it near a wall or hedge cuts the wind load. Anything this tall is a two-person job the first time: one holds it steady while the other stakes.

1. Unroll it facing the right way. Locate the blower, the power port, the tether loops, the base stake sleeves and the deflation zipper.
2. Attach the blower and secure the collar. Close every zipper and tie off any open port — an open port is the usual reason a tall inflatable will not stand up straight.
3. Test-inflate before anchoring on a clear dry patch, to check it stands and to look for tears.
4. Position, then stake the base. Stakes through the base sleeves, driven at a slight inward angle rather than straight down.
5. Tether it properly. Tall shapes are more tip-prone than low wide ones, so run the tethers out to stakes at about 45 degrees, ideally four points in an X pattern, keeping tension as you drive each stake.
6. Fill any ballast pouch with sand or gravel if one is fitted.
7. Stand back and even it out. Let it fully inflate, adjust the tethers until it stands vertical, and tug-test every anchor.
8. Re-check the next day and after a week. Stakes work loose as ground dries.

Order matters: inflate, position, anchor, then tension.

Power. Supplied cords on yard inflatables are short, so an outdoor-rated extension cord is effectively required. Use a grounded three-prong outdoor cord, 14 AWG or heavier, into a GFCI outlet. An undersized cord starves the blower and the tree sags. Keep the cord and adapter junction off the ground and out of puddles. The blower plug is US standard.

On a driveway, patio or deck, where stakes cannot go: sandbags or water bags at every anchor point, or tie off to deck posts, fence rails or railings. Double up in an exposed spot — a tall piece needs more ballast than a low one.

Storage. Unplug, open the deflation zipper and work the air out from the top down. Bag the stakes separately. Dry it completely before folding. A tall piece holds water in its folds, and put away damp it comes out mildewed next year with stains that will not lift. Fold loosely along the existing creases and store cool, dry and out of direct sun.

One safety note: tethers on a front lawn are a trip hazard for anyone walking up in the dark. Site it so the guy lines do not cross the path to the door.
