Installation guide
Before starting. Solene connects directly to ceiling wiring, so installation by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code and all applicable local codes is recommended. A properly mounted ceiling junction box is required. Indoor dry locations only.
- Isolate the circuit. Switch off the supply at the breaker and confirm it is dead before touching any wire.
- Fix the mounting bracket. Screw the bracket to the ceiling junction box, using fixings rated for the weight of the fixture.
- Set the drop. Shorten the cord to the height wanted before connecting anything. There is 59 inches to work with, and a longer cord can be requested.
- Connect the supply. Join neutral to neutral (white), ground to ground (green or bare) and live to live (black), then tuck the connections into the box.
- Close the canopy. Raise the canopy to the bracket and tighten its screws so it sits flush against the ceiling.
- Fit the bulb. Screw the included E26 bulb into the socket inside the shade, restore power and test.
Hanging height. Over a dining table or kitchen island, hang the base of the shade 30 to 36 inches above the surface. In an entry or a stairwell, keep at least 7 feet of clearance below the shade.
Care. Switch off and let the shade cool. Dust with a soft dry cloth or a vacuum brush, and lift marks with a barely damp cloth. No solvents or abrasive cleaners.
Some rooms ask for a quiet gesture rather than a grand one. Solene answers with a sculptural shade in soft white, stretched taut over a fine steel frame so it reads as one smooth, seamless form. Lit, the shade glows from within and spreads a broad, even wash across the room rather than a hard pool of light. Unlit, it hangs like a paper sculpture.
The frame is sprayed with a polymer coat that gives the surface a silk-like texture, durable enough to resist knocks and easy to dust. A single E26 socket sits recessed inside, and a bulb is included, so the fixture works the evening it goes up. Pair it with a dimmable bulb and a wall dimmer to take the same light from bright and useful to low and quiet.
Nine shapes cover most rooms. The wide Saucer and Ribbed Saucer suit a dining table or a kitchen island, and the largest reaches 31.4 inches for a long table or a high ceiling. Globe, Faceted Round and Wavy Drum bring a rounder, more sculptural presence to a living room or stairwell, while the compact Tall Oval and Lantern work over a nightstand, a reading corner or a narrow hall.
