The Veyra Sculptural Diffused Alabaster Wall Lamp turns a single wall into a source of quiet, warm light. The shade is cut from alabaster, a stone that light passes through rather than bounces off, so what reaches the room is softened and faintly amber instead of flat and white. Alabaster is a natural material, so the veining runs from cloud grey to warm cream and varies from piece to piece. On a bedroom wall or along a hallway it reads as a small piece of stonework that happens to light the room.
A slim metal backplate holds the stone clear of the wall so light washes both up and down, lifting the whole surface rather than leaving a hard pool. The bulb is removable and standard, so it can be changed without touching the fixture. Three light tones are offered: warm white at 3000K for bedrooms, neutral white at 4000K for hallways and stairs, and cool white at 6000K where you want the stone to read closer to white marble.
It suits contemporary, minimalist and wabi-sabi rooms and sits naturally alongside plaster, oak, linen and unpolished brass. Use a pair either side of a bed in place of table lamps to free the nightstands, run three down a long hallway for rhythm, or hang one beside a reading chair. Installation is hardwired to the wall.
