The Vespera Bauhaus Retro Gradient Sunset Pendant Light is a single sphere that holds the last ten minutes of daylight. Color is graded through the shade rather than printed on it, so the orange deepens toward the base the way a sky does, and the piece keeps that gradient whether it is lit or not. The geometry underneath is strictly Bauhaus: one circle, one drop, nothing else.
Lit, it stops behaving like a lamp and starts behaving like a light source in a photograph. The graded shade warms the beam on its way out, washing the wall behind it in amber instead of white, which is why it works better as mood lighting beside a sofa or bed than as the only fixture in a room. The two colors read very differently: orange and white for warmth, Klein blue for the cooler moment just after the sun has gone.
Three sizes make it easy to place. The 6.3 inch sphere suits a nightstand or a narrow balcony, the 7.9 inch sits well in a reading corner, and the 11.8 inch carries a living room or a sunroom on its own, or hangs in a run of two or three over a counter.
