The Orsa Retro Metallic Mirrored Dome Pendant Lamp is a mirror-finished shade that behaves as much like an object as a light. It picks up the colours around it, so a gold Orsa over a walnut table looks warm and deep, while a silver one against white cabinetry reads cool and almost liquid. Light is directed straight down onto the surface below, leaving the shade itself to catch and bend whatever is happening in the rest of the room.
Four finishes are offered: gold, rose gold, smoky gray and silver. Gold and rose gold warm a room and sit with brass, wood and stone. Smoky gray is the most restrained, closer to tinted glass than to a mirror. Silver is the sharpest, and suits a kitchen that already has steel or chrome in it. Four diameters run from a 7" / 18 cm pendant to an 18.9" / 48 cm statement shade, so the same design can be used as a cluster or as a centrepiece.
Over an island, three of the smaller size in a row spread the light more evenly than one large pendant. Over a round dining table, a single large shade is the cleaner answer. The drop is set at installation, and the fixture is hardwired to a ceiling box. Clean the polished surface with a dry microfibre cloth rather than a spray.
