The Nomia Retro Playful Rechargeable Toaster Table Lamp is shaped like a small pop-up toaster, with a lit slice of bread standing proud of the top. It has a built-in battery, so there is no cable and no outlet to find, and it charges over USB. What it gives is a warm, low glow rather than task light, the sort you want once the overheads are off.
The body comes in three soft colors: green, pink and almond yellow. At 5.2 inches wide and 3.8 inches tall it sits easily on a nightstand, a desk, a shelf or a kitchen counter. The shape is unashamedly playful, which is why it suits a child's room as readily as a breakfast bar.
Brightness is adjusted on the lamp itself. Because it is cordless and light, it is easy for a child to pick up and carry, so if it is going into a kid's room, keep the charging cable out of reach, never allow it to be used in or near water, and supervise younger children with it.
